Following the successful restoration of Lingzhi Dzong with funding support from the Government of India (GoI), a formal consecration ceremony was held to sanctify the dzong and mark its return as a functional heritage and administrative site. The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Home Minister, the Thimphu Dzongdag, the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, senior officials and staff from the Department of Culture and Dzongkha Development, as well as representatives from the Rabdhey.
The consecration ceremony included traditional religious rites performed by local monks, blessing rituals of the dzong’s key structures, and offerings at the sacred altars. Special attention was given to the installation of ritual elements, preserving the spiritual and cultural significance of the dzong.
This ceremony not only marked the formal reopening of Lingzhi Dzong but also celebrated the collaborative efforts between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of India in preserving and revitalizing Bhutan’s heritage. Projects like this strengthen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between India and Bhutan, reflecting mutual commitment to cultural preservation, development, and regional partnership.
